This picture is dedicated to a very nice friend of me here and on another side. Who actually makes herself the trouble to critic my pics for me in a way that actually helps me.
I often ask for critic. I know what I do people. I cant get better if someone gives me no feedback, you know.
Lynn did volunteering and she helps me very much with her honesty, as it is good to see in this picture. ^^
To Lynn chan;
Here you have the point why I needed badly someone who kicks my sorry ass sometimes so I do actually Do my work ^___^
Thank you dear, your critic on my Ecthelion helped much.
I went to my teacher , who sometimes helps me in the last weeks allot. He helped me here too, gave me ides and such.
You told me I could have made him more manly...wasn´t it that? Well, I hope I got it more right this time, snickers. Yesterday night I had an art rush...duno were it came from but He came out of it.
I hope you will like him^_^
Yep, he is yours, for helping me.
A very thankful Sury^^
To the picture;
I often wondered what Tuor must have seen when he saw the captain of the last Gate to Gondolin in all of his splendor. When he came to Gondolin with his guide.
Ecthelion was describet from tolkien to wear an armor that was bright and shining in silver and that it shone from all the diamonds on it. He must have given quite a sight!
I held more to another type of armory this time, one that is much easier to wear as a full body armor. Somehow it fitt with him I believe.
Artistically the pic is very good looking, but in sense of armour- and weapon technology I can't understand it. Personally I haven't imagined elves look like Disneys Jasmine(?), but it's ok I guess. All the ornaments you've made are very nice, but there are few designs that irritate me: 1. The sword. It just doesn't look functional with those funny cuts. 2. The helmet. Either she's wearing it intentionally on the back of her skull, or she should demand her money back from the smith who made it. Her forehead is unguarded! The nasalguard isn't even close to protecting her nose. And what is that that funny thing on top? Extra weight? It looks like a sharp roman aqueduct.
I know I'm being a bit mean, but don't take it personally. I'd just like to recommend you something: Do what John Howe does for his masterpieces concerning Middle-Earth's military - study armours. Find out WHY they are built the way they are. There is always a reason. His desings look always good for a reason, they are functional. They look as real as any historical painting.
I hope there was something to get a grip of in this critique, and it didn't make you feel bad.
And you don't have to be an expert of arms and armour. None of us could be master of all things we do or must participate. But we can still study the issues at hand. I think Da Vinci was such a master because he knew so well how things worked out. Sometimes I take things too seriusly, and demand too much realism and functionality from things that aren't even supposed to be that. It's maybe because I try to capture M-E as it was living history.
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL LLLLLLLL
hey, can you make a pic of an armoured Elrond somewhen???
O.O (<- my new sign for Puppy Power XD)
