A Phoenixmothers watch

This is an older draw of mine that I colored out last night. I actually finished half of the painting when my Photoshop 7 decided to crash again>.< after reloading it, the entire picture seem to have frozen in this state...well nearly this state
All the layers where gone, the pic looked like a truck had run over and was more surealistik as anything else!

I tried to rework the layers inside and workt it over again ...this came out in the end.
Pleeeeease!!!
Can somebody tell me what hapened to it?
I stand on the line here Its totally not understandable for me what had happen to it
Not that it is not good as it has come out....but I would like to know at least what happened.
